Working platforms above ground can range from the highly sophisticated example above to the planks on trestles also on this page, with many dozens of variations inbetween. The prime requisite of all this work is safety for the workers who have to use it. In the case of the bridge above, a large section of it collapsed in Sept 2007 with the loss of many lives. I have to say it was not the scaffold that collapsed, but a huge section of one of the approach ramps. My point is still valid, safety is paramount in any work above the ground.
