apex fitment for a hexagonal roof
An apex fitment for a pyramid roof

The placement of the purlins at the apex of the roof gets more difficult with the amount of side that the roof has. As the number increases so the top cut gets finer and finer.

One way to to solve this problem is to make up a weld fitment like in the above sketch. As the number of hips increases the the fitment is made so that the hips can pass over the ring and the whole thing is moved lower down the roof.

rafter layout for a pyramid roof.
Rafter layout for a pyramid roof.

As can be seen here there is no room for a center common rafter, so the answer is to start off the framing with two jack rafters on either side of the center line of each particular roof surface.
