For a good circulation of air in a roof space it is essential to have a means of letting cooler and fresher air into the roof at the low point, which is at the eaves. It is pointless fitting vents close to the ridge and at the apex of gable, if there is no way of entry for fresh air lower down. In the photo above is a way of providing ample ventilation. The eaves are lined with boards with gaps for the air between them. Other ways of venting the eaves are to line them with cement sheets and then cut in rectangular press in plastic vents that are readily and cheaply available at hardware stores. If the eaves are not lined and the wall cladding cuts around the rafters then a few sections should be left open and fitted with vermin mesh.
